Nicola Di Tondo was born in Tuscany right in front of the Mediterranean Sea, on the 24th of May 1989. He started surfing at 12 years old, along with his windsurfers pals. Since the beginning, he loved the waves more than the wind itself. Despite the fact that in this part of the world there are not many big waves, that hasn’t stopped Nick from surfing anyway. Once he got his driving license, he started to seek better waves all around the Italian coasts, legitimizing his love for longboarding.
In 2007 Nick competed in his first Italian championship. Since then, he’s always been able to place in top positions. Thanks to his good results he got to meet and know many people, like Bosko, his best friend, and fellow competitive surfer. Thanks to the billions of adventures they have shared together, Nick has had some European appearances. He has participated in the ETL (European Tour of Longboarding ), facing the strongest European surfers.
Surfing gives Nick a lot of opportunities to travel the world. He can recall his first big trip to Australia where he spent more than two months when he was just 18 years old. Nick has surfed on some of the best waves across the globe from France, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, Canary Islands, Australia, Maldives, and California. Nick is comfortable in all conditions, he’s just as happy surfing waves suitable for a classic style or on bigger reef waves. Pending the conditions his CJ Nelson Designs quiver goes from a 9’1″ Sinner to a 10’0″ Sprout. When Nick visits SoCal he loves surfing with his 9’5″ CJ Classic. The perfect points are in California, his favorite? Malibu. Among some of his other favorites spots are Bali and the Mentawai Islands where he has the chance to surf perfect reef break for tube riding on his Sinner model.
In 2016 Nick met CJ Nelson and since then started a partnership with the brand. Since joining the family, he has become one of the top European athletes.
Aside from surfing and traveling Nick’s other big passion is cooking. It’s been 4 years since he opened his own Italian restaurant.
